Shawn Sommer, bass
works hard and plays well with others
Some recent work includes:
-backing national artists including Heather Headley(Lion King/Aida), Jewel, and Mike Love/John Stamos of the Beach Boys.
-Recording many albums, with everything from local singer songwriters, to members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, to international artists. One recent album was with an artist signed by Paul McCartney, with Paul and I sharing bass duties.
-Being hired as the bassist for many of the large-scale events at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, including 5 years at the International Leadership Summit(the 2011 Summit was expected to draw 165,000 attendees, videocast to 450 locations), 6 years at the Christmas services, and 4 years at the Arts conference(teaching and playing).
-A member of the band Maggie Speaks, entertaining locally and around the country. We've grown to three bands, producing and performing around 450 shows per year. Within the group, I handle personnel management, promo audio/video production, and music direct for our large corporate events.
